Swamp Yankee Days, a celebration of Rhode Island’s rural culture is moving from its traditional location in the Hopkinton village of Ashaway to the Washington County Fairgrounds in Richmond, according to the Westerly Sun today.
Scott Barber, Richmond’s director of public works and chief of the Richmond Carolina Fire District, said he wanted to rejuvenate the event when the Chariho Rotary Club announced that it would no longer be able to organize the event.
Swamp Yankee Days is scheduled for Oct. 12 and 13.
